Two Minsk Economic Court judges get prison terms

Двое судзяў Эканамічнага суда Мінска атрымалі вялікія турэмныя тэрміны

Two judges of Minsk Economic Court have been imprisoned for corruption, BELTA reports. Judge Yury Hrushetski has been imprisoned for 11 years and his property will be confiscated. He will not be allowed to work in courts and the police for 5 years. He was returned guilty of swindle and bribery.

Judge Alena Melnikava has been retuned guilty of bribe-taking. She has been imprisoned for 13 years. Her property will be confiscated and she will not be allowed to work in courts and the police for 5 years.

 

There were four other defendants. They have been imprisoned for smaller terms. Victar Vintskevich got 3.5 years of imprisonment and confiscation of property, Alena Haletskaya – 3.5 years of imprisonment and confiscation of property. Andrei Rykun has been sentenced to 3 years of penal labour at home and Natallya Haretskaya – to 2 years.

 

The sentences cannot be appealed.
