Tatstsyana Karatkevich wants to use Lukashenka’s air time on BT

Таццяна Караткевіч хоча ўзяць час на БТ, не выкарыстаны Лукашэнкам

Presidential candidate Tatstsyana Karatkevich is asking the Central Election Commission to let her use Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s air time on TV. The President has refused to use it.

The candidate’s CEC representative Ihar Lyalkou has reported it to Radio Liberty. Karatkevich wants to speak on TV because radio speeches are not that important to her, he said. She is asking for one hour of air time – the time Alyaksandr Lukashenka has refused to use.

"She has explained her desire by the fact that the candidates have received little air time for agitation while there are a lot of problems that need to be discussed. I agree with it. Candidates speak on TV all the time in normal countries. Our candidates have received only one hour of air time for the whole agitation campaign. People say that it is not enough and a lot of such remarks have been pronounced since the last TV speech,” Lyalkou noted.

The candidate’s team expects to get a reply from the CEC on Monday. By the way, Karatkevich does not mind sharing the air time with the other candidates. However, her team has not heard them asking for it.

Lukashenka has not used his radio and TV time. He can give his time to the other candidates if they like, he announced in Zhlobin on September 25. He may address Belarusians on the eve of the Election Day, Lukashenka claimed.
