Driving the hand-made car is the same as driving an ordinary car: there are two pedals, a handbrake and reverse pedal. The car is even equipped with safety belts and an antitheft system that blocks the steering wheel. The maximum speed of the electric car is 35 kilometres per hour. If you refill the batteries, you can drive up to one hundred kilometers. The car charges from an ordinary socket!

I am fond of radio electronics. I made small radio-controlled cars. Then I thought that it would be good to make a big electric car. I have studied the construction and making a big car should be easy”, - says Sasha.

The teenager made the car with the help of two friends in two years. Sasha spent his money on it. His parents had to buy a garage where he could make the frame. The lead-acid battery is the most expensive component. It was brought from Germany. The other parts were brought by friends and found in shops and at dumps. About 8 million Belarusian roubles was spent on the electric car which is less than one thousand dollars today. The guys made the frame from glass fibre and painted it white.

“Everything is ours. There are no “Porsche” or “Audio” components. We wanted to make something interesting, a non-aggressive sports car. An electric car is good for the environment.  I have never seen three-wheeled cars. It was difficult to make it look good on both sides”, - explains Dzima, young car designer.

Sasha presents his self-made car at school conferences now. Having calculated the ecological and economic profit, the guy is thinking about the prospects of electric vehicles.

“If all Belarusian cars were electric and if only coal-fired power plants produced energy for them (non-ecological) – there would be twice as less CO2 contamination. If alternative sources of energy were used for it, it would be the best variant!”, - Sasha sums up.
He is not embarrassed by the fact that there are no three-wheeled electric cars in the Belarusian road rules. He has already made a scheme of a motorcycle. The engine will be more powerful and the speed will be up to 80 kilometres per hour. It will run on electricity instead of fuel. The talented schoolboy hopes that he will manage to ride the vehicle in ordinary roads.
