Russian border to be blocked for Belarusian travel banned? (updated)

11.08. Lyabedzka, Kalyakin and Atroshchankau not delivered to court so far

It has become known that all the three are accused of using bad language in a public place. They may be arrested for up to 15 days, informs journalist Uladzimir Chudzyantsou who has managed to phone Alyaksandr Atroshchankau. However, it is not possible to contact Lyabedzka, Kalyakain and Atsroshchankau anymore.

The opposition politicians who were made to get off the train “Minsk-Moscow” yesterday evening will stand trial in Orsha today.

According to the preliminary information, Anatol Lyabedzka, Syarhei Kalyakin and Alyaksandr Atroshchankau are accused of “petty hooliganism”. Tatstsyana Serafimovich will be their judge.

Atroshchankau’s father Syarhei Paulavich has informed Euroradio that the politicians have not been delivered to court from the detention centre yet.

They will stand trial today.

All the three were on the train “Minsk-Moscow”. They had to leave for Brussels from the Russian capital. The reasons for the detention are unknown now, informs BCD activist Dzyanis Sadouski on Facebook. Radio Liberty adds that drugs were searched on the politicians and administrative reports have been drawn up against them. The opposition members are in the local police department now.

“Charter’97” notes that Lyabedzka, Kalyakin and Atroshchankau had meetings appointed in the European Commission.

As of Wednesday morning, it is still impossible to contact them – their cell phones have probably been taken away by the police.

Let us remind you that more than 15 opposition members, human rights defenders and independent journalists have faced problems trying to cross the EU border since mid-March. All of them are on the list of people who are not allowed to leave Belarus for various reasons. However, the possibility to leave Belarus by crossing the Russian border had existed until yesterday’s evening.

Let us remind you that Anatol Lyabedzka, Syarhei Kalyakin and Alyaksandr Atroshchankau were made to get off the train on their way to Moscow in Orsha yesterday evening. They had been going to leave for Brussels from the Russian capital where they had a meeting appointed in the European Commission.

Atroshchankau’s father, Syarhei Paulavich, has informed Euroradio that the detained have not been delivered to court yet. He has described the detention on the train:

"I have information that people in plain clothes demanded that they followed them and did not show them any documents. Kalyakin demanded their names, but they did not react and dragged them out of the compartment. Now they may be accused of resistance to the police.
