Let us remind you that Ales Mihalevich was detained at a Polish airport in December 2011 because his name was on the list of people wanted by Interpol. The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs had to interfere to solve the problem. As Polish journalists have found out, Interpol admitted that Belarus was looking for the refugee for political reasons and had to remove his name from the list. Nevertheless, the General Secretariat of the international police only informed Minsk office about it for some reason.
According to Mihalevich, he is waiting for the explanation of the Interpol headquarters. The political refugee has stressed that there is no his name on the official list of wanted people. However, Mihalevich says that his name has remained on Interpol list of all European countries. In particular, it is present on the list of the Baltic states where the political refugee lives at the moment.
In Mihalevich’s opinion, his issue demonstrates that Europe’s legal mechanisms do not function the right way.
