On January 27, the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the premiere of the play "Clara Was Here", dedicated to the Nazi crimes against the Jews, was to take place in the Minsk Youth Theater. But the performance was canceled, reports Zerkalo.

The play "Clara Was Here," directed by Tacciana Aksionkina, is based on Memoria Nominis Clara by Ksenia Štaliankava.

Prior to the premiere, a message appeared on the website that the play was postponed due to the illness of an actor. However, on January 27, the theater wrote on social media that the work on the play continues, which contradicts the reports about the actor's illness as the main reason for the cancellation. If the production is ready and it was only prevented by illness, there is no need to continue working and making adjustments.

The page about the performance has disappeared from the theater's website. A preserved copy can be found in the archive. It says that the next performance was scheduled for February 25. There is another play on the program - Love of Three - scheduled on that day.

Readers told the editors of Zerkalo that the officials did not like the play "Clara Was Here". The production will have to be edited before it can appear on the billboard again.

This is not the first such case in Belarusian theaters. In November 2022, the operetta "The Duchess of Chicago" had to be amended at the Minsk Music Theater: the officials did not like the positive portrayal of America.
