Nyaklyayeu’s new movement gathers in Minsk

The initiative group of the movement For Belarus’ Freedom And Independence has held a meeting not far from Minsk. The creation of the group was initiated by well-known politician and poet Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu.

Representatives from different Belarusian regions and cities and well-known political, cultural and civil activist took part in the meeting, Radio Liberty reports. Scientist Lyavon Barshecheuski, painters Ales Shaternik, Alyaksei Marachkin, Yazep Yanushkevch, filmmaker Valery Mazynski and others were among them.

Belarus’ independence is threatened like never before, Nyaklyayeu announced at the meeting. ‘Resistance to the Russian expansion’ is the main reason for the creation of the movement, he noted.

Well-known civil activist from Kobryn Alyaksandr Meh is Nyaklyeyeu’s deputy. Representatives of every Belarusian province will also be appointed deputies.

The decision about participation in this year’s presidential election will be made soon.
