Minsk City Hall okays Freedom Day rally

The independence of the Belarusian People’s Republic was declared in Minsk on March 25, 1918. The republic was divided between Poland and Soviet Russia later.

Ales Lahvinets, deputy head of the Movement for Freedom, told Euroradio about the today’s visit to Mink City Executive Committee:

"It has been allowed to gather near the cinema house October and walk towards Bangalore Square. We have been warned about the inadmissibility of violating the legislation and we have signed some document. It was just another way to exercise pressure on the organizers.”

The officials warned them that ‘unregistered symbols’ were forbidden, Lahvinets said. Up to 1 thousand people are going to take part in the manifestation. They will gather near the cinema house October at 6 p.m. on March 25 and the manifestation will begin at 6.30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Park of Peoples’ Friendship – it will start at 7.30 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.

The anniversary of the BNR will be celebrated on Freedom Day. ‘The situation in the country and in the region’ will also be discussed.
