The Ministry of Defense has been buying fireworks without tenders for 11 years, press secretary of the main ideological department of the Ministry of Defense Uladzimir Makarau confirmed the information to Office Life. 

Belarus has been buying fireworks on the basis of “a friendly verbal agreement’, the Russian company PiroRoss announced earlier.

According to decree #778 of the Council of Ministers (August 22, 2012), such products can be bought without tenders from one source, the Ministry of Defense explained. Piro-Ross is said to be the only company producing fireworks compatible with Belarusian cannons.

A few cannons exploded during the fireworks in Minsk on Independence Day (July 3). The debris wounded spectators. One woman died and 9 other people were injured.

A criminal case has bene started. Two suspects have been detained.
