Lukashenka’s Ukraine peace plan was rejected by West and Russia

The West wanted a peaceful plan of settling the conflict in Donets Basin and he prepared one, Alyaksandr Lukashenka claimed. However, neither the West nor Russia accepted it.

"Somebody needed the massacre,” Lukashenka concluded.

Lukashenka: Yanukovich financed Right Sector

"Victor Fyodorovich [Yanukovich] financed the Right Sector. Because they were against Yuliya [Timoshenko],” Alyaksandr Lukashenka said. “He created a force that destroyed him,” he added.  

The Right Sector is an association of the right forces that appeared in Ukraine at the end of 2013 and became an organized force of Maidan. It is a political party now.

Lukashenka: Russia has to protect LNR and DPR due to personal rating

"But for Russia, the LNR and DPR would have lost long ago. Russia has to defend and support these territories for various reasons from personal rating to the fact that brothers live there,” Lukashenka said.  

“There can be no winners in this war,” he stressed. He does not understand why they are fighting for Donetsk Airport, Alyaksandr Lukashenka confessed.

Lukashenka reminds Putin about Pskov, Smolensk and Bryansk Oblasts

Commenting on the idea that Russia may decide to annex part of Belarus after Ukraine, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that it was ‘utter falsehood’.

The state leader also recalled the moment when he had joked at Vladimir Putin.  Pskov, Smolensk and Bryansk Oblasts used to belong to Belarus, he told him. “You will have to share them with us! ” Lukashenka told Putin. It was a joke, he stressed. Belarus lays no claim to these lands now.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka will answer questions of Russian regional media. It is to be recalled that they are participating in the traditional press tour in Belarus - they have been introduced to the socio-economic development of the Vitebsk region. 

According to the press service of the head of state, the event will be held for the 12th time. Tomorrow's press conference will be attended by more than 100 journalists from 50 regions of the Russian Federation.
