Ice hockey: Team Belarus new coach to earn Eur200K

Vladimir Krikunov officially became in charge of Belarus' national ice hockey team on Thursday when he signed the contract in Minsk. The contract may be extended for two years if Belarus advances into the final stages of the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Talking to reporters in Minsk, Krikunov said he might stop coaching after this job. "I hope to finish my career on a positive note,"  Pressball newspaper quotes Krukunov as saying.

The candidature of Krikunov was supported by 19 ice hockey specialists in the Belarusain Ice Hockey Federation. according to Federation Chairman Yauhen Vorsin. The contract is worth 200,000 euros, the same amount paid out to the previous coach Glen Hanlon for 10 months of working with the team.
