BSDP will not support Karatkevich at presidential elections

The party took the decision at the central committee meeting on June 28, BSDP head Iryna Veshtard told BelaPAN.

The party presidium decided to support Karatkevich on April 19. However, it was a procedural decision and it does not mean that Karatkevih will be officially supported, Iryna Veshtard said.

“We should stick to the statute. It means that only the assembly may support a candidate. That is why the decision of the presidium does not mean that the candidate will be supported. We simply approved the procedure of supporting a possible candidate. It does not mean that Karatkevich will be officially supported,” Iryna Veshtard claimed.

Party members may ‘join some initiative groups on their own’ but ‘the party will not do it centrally’, the BSDP leader noted.

Tatstsyana Karatkevich says that she is a potential candidate of the People’s Referendum that includes BSDP (Hramada), the campaign Tell the Truth, BPF party and the movement For Freedom.
