UN rapporteur's mandate to be put to vote in Geneva today

He was appointed the rapporteur on the human rights situation in Belarus.

The Delegations of all the 47 member states of the United Nations Human Rights Council can take part in the voting.

Valyantsin Stefanovich expressed a hope that the majority of the delegations would vote to prolong the mandate of the special rapporteur on Belarus, Radio Liberty reports. The countries that have already supported the official Belarusian delegation (Russia, China and Cuba) are not members of the Council at the moment.

Belarus does not recognize the special rapporteur mandate. The official Minsk does not cooperate with Haraszti and he has no visa.
