Azarenka and Havarstova to play in Wimbledon 1/8 Final today

Belarusians Victoria Azarenka and Volha Havarstova will play in Wimbledon 1/8 final today. Azarenka has already played in the Grand Slam tournaments before. However, being in the top-16 is Havartsova’s best result in the career.

Victoria will play against Swiss Belinda Bencic (World No. 22) who is two positions higher than the Belarusian. The match will start at 5 p.m. Volha (World No. 122) will compete with American Madison Keys (World No.21) at 1.30 p.m.

 

Victoria Azarenka defeated Estonian Anett Kontaveit (145) in the first round— 6:2, 6:1, Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium (96) in the second round – 6:3, 6:3 and French player of Serbian ancestry Kristina Mladenovic (38) in the third round – 6:4, 6:4.

Volha Havarstova successfully passed the qualification and defeated Romanian Andreea Mitu (71) in the first round  — 6:1, 6:1, Alizé Cornet of France (27) in the second round — 7:6, 2:6, 6:1, and Slovak Magdalena Rybarikova  (65) in the third round — 7:6, 6:3.
