International rock-fest "X-Star" takes place in Brest (photo)
The contest of young rock-musicians took place in the city on the river Bug for the seventh time.
The audition of the contest's participants
and the contest itself were held in two days, it has already become a
tradition. 8 bands from the whole Brest region got to the final concert in the
civil-cultural center. According to the rules, the contenders were supposed to
perform two songs, and the jury estimated their performances under several
criteria.
The process of
decision-taking on the finalists was accompanied by a real show from the fest's
headliners - the Americans Los
Vecinos. A mixture of rock music and Latin American tunes
in the best traditions of Manu
Chao rocked even those viewers who were the most tired after
the many-hours event.
The jury's verdict:
the Belarusian-speaking band Anakharsis got the first place. It wasn't a big
surprise for the public. The Brest-Stolin project looked favourable on the
background of all the others due to the high-quality performance of a classic
heavy-metal. Their frontman Yury
Kharevich became
the best vocalist.
Besides, a common
concert of the winners will take place on March 3 in the Brest club
"Sphere". Anakharsis will share the stage with Coloured Pencils and The
Lover's Gun. The bands got the 2nd and the 3rd places at the
X-Star correspondingly.
