Lukashenka kneels to kiss flag, Domracheva swears allegiance (video)
The State Flag Square was opened in Minsk on the evening of July 2.
The square is situated at the intersection of Winners Avenue and Arlouskaya Street.
The 14x7m red-green flag was hoisted in the centre of the square. The anthem was followed by fireworks and 10 thousand red and green balloons flew up in the air.
A new tradition was established – swearing allegiance to the state flag of the Republic of Belarus. Biathlete Darya Domracheva and gymnast Darya Yakutovich were the first to do it.
State Flag Square was opened on the eve of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus marked on July 3.
