Wednesday smog in Minsk

No fires or any other emergency situations have been registered in Minsk or in the neighbourhood, ECM press secretary Vital Dembouski told tut.by. He explained the smoke by the weather event called inversion. Warm air lifted when it started getting colder and crated a barrier for fumes produced by the city – cars, enterprises and the heating of private houses.

Specialists from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental protection and of Minsk City Hygiene and Epidemiology Centre have confirmed the information.

Medics advise that people with health problems should go for walks only in open wind-blown spaces situated far from highways and plants.
