USA prolongs Russia sanctions for 12 months

The USA has prolonged Russia sanctions due to the escalation of the conflict in East Ukraine for 12 more months. United States President Barack Obama has decided to do it, the White House press service reports.

There is still a threat to the Unites States’ security and foreign policy, he claimed. “The people and policy undermining the democratic processes and institutes in Ukraine, threatening peace, stability, security, sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Ukraine and allowing the wrong usage of its resources are posing  a threat,” he said.

The sanctions include the numerous restrictions imposed on Russia last year. America and the European Union imposed sanctions on Russia after the annexation of Crimea and added more sanctions due to Moscow’s participation in the escalation of the conflict in Donets Basin.
