Government shuts down Onliner.by

The domain name Оnliner.by will be removed from the national domain name register for violating trading regulation violations, reports the state news agency BELTA quoting the Operative and Analytical Center (OAC) under the President of Belarus.

The owner of the internet portal Onliner.by reportedly violated trade regulations, including the rules that regulate the sales of goods and services via the internet. According to Ministry of Information, the owner of the website was given time to rectify all the violations, but he took no measures in this regard. On December 20, 2014, a decision was taken to remove this domain name from the national domain name register.

The website was popular not only for its news service. It was also a popular an e-commerce platform, offering a catalogue of prices and online stores. Most likely, the website was closed, because some e-shops inndicated their prices in foreign currency.

Euroradio contacted the website's staff for comment. They said the website is out of service "for technical reasons." Theyr lawyers are trying to deal with this problem.
