Three graffiti artists finally charged

The Investigative Committee is still working on the case of the Belarusian language graffiti in Minsk. According to Radio Liberty, Maxim Pyakarski, Vadzim Zharomsky, Yaraslau Ulyanenkau and Vyachaslau Kasinerau were interrogated to "review the results of the examination and receive the final charges".

The guys were violently detained on August 11 for the Belarusian language graffiti and damage done to the billboard with the image of the police. Human rights activists said that if convicted, the graffiti men will be considered political prisoners.

It is reported that Vadzim Zharomski and Vyachaslau Kasinerau' charges remained the same -- hooliganism committed by a group of persons. For this they face the restriction of freedom for up to three years or imprisonment from one to six years.

Vadzim Zharomski is also accused of vandalizing buildings and damaging property. His charges include all the three episodes of the case: the graffiti "Belarus must be Belarusian" and "Revolution of consciousness, it is already in progress ...", as well as paint damage to a billboard with the image of the police officers, which caused material damages of 2 million 200 thousand rubles.

Maxim Pyakarski is only accused of desecrating the buildings and damaging property. He was charged only with painting Belarusian-language graffiti. Incidentally, the examination did not reveal any manifestations of extremism in the drawings. The boy faces a fine, community service or detention for up to 3 months.

All three are under house arrest. The money for property damage has already been paid by them.

Yaraslau Ulyanenkau was cleared of all charges and proceedings against him were stopped.
