Sasnovich defeated by Sharapova, drops out of Australian Open
Belarusian tennis player Aliaksandra Sasniovich, World No.105, was defeated by Russian Maria Sharapova (World No.5) and dropped out of the Australian Open in the second round — 2:6, 1:6.
Victoria Azarenka (16) defeated Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck earlier –6:0, 6:0. Another Belarusian player, Volha Havarstova (71), lost to Tatjana Maria of Germany in the starting match— 4:6, 3:6. She will continue playing in the doubles now.
