Putin orders to eliminate banned goods

Vladimir Putin has signed an order affecting ‘banned goods’ – they will be eliminated. The decree will come into power on August 6, RBK reports.

The Russian President has ordered the government to denote the elimination scheme. By the way, the decree does not affect goods imported by physical entities for personal use.

The idea to eliminate banned goods right on the Russian border was suggested by Russian Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tkachyov on July 24. Banned goods revealed at the border are getting sent back to suppliers for the time being.

The Russian food embargo was imposed on Western products on August 7, 2014. It was done in response to the western sanctions imposed in connection with the situation in Ukraine. Russia prolonged the embargo for one more year in June 2015 (until August 2016).
