Poroshenko urges Putin to release Savchenko

Petro Poroshenko has urged Vladimir Putin to release captive pilot Nadezhda Savchenko without delay. The Ukrainian President announced it at a press conference in Kiev. He gave the press conference together with Italian PM Matteo Renzi.

"I have sent a letter to President Putin and asked him to release Nadezhda Savchenko as soon as possible. I have also asked the Italian PM to help solve this painful problem,” UNIAN quotes Poroshenko.

Moscow Basmannyi Court will consider Savchenko’s appeal taking into account her immunity of a PACE member. The court rejected Savchenko’s appeal about not being able to attend a PACE session, Russian  mass media report.

Savchenko has been on a hunger strike for more than 80 days.
