Marc Chagall Street finally in Vitsebsk (photo)

authorities have renamed part of Pravda Street (between Kalinin Street and Lenin Street), SB. Belarus Today reports. Interestingly, they asked Chagall’s granddaughter Meret Meyer living in France for permission. She ‘gladly’ agreed and was ‘grateful’.

The building of the art college in Chagall Street is being repaired now. Its construction was initiated by Marc Chagall in 1919. A museum will be opened there to attract tourists, head of Vitsebsk Province Executive Committee Victar Nikalaikin said.

Only a small passage in Vitebsk used to be called after Marc Chagall before.
