New corruption cases in Belarus come to light

A number of criminal cases were opened in Belarus in relation to corruption crimes. Prosecutor's Office of the Magiliou region opened a  "power abuse" case against the director of one of the Magiliou utilities enterprises and founder of the Dorinvest limited liability company.

As BelaPAN reports with reference to the Prosecutor General's Office, the people under investigation are suspected of setting up various construction works by the utility companies in the interest of Dorinvest. The latter had incurred losses of about 372 million rubles.

Criminal proceedings were also launched regarding the "abuse of power or official authority" incident in relation to department head of one of the Magiliou utilities company. She is suspected of signing without authority the acceptance act of construction and other special installation works with indication of false information. The State incurred losses amounting to more than 1 billion rubles.

Asipovichy district prosecutor's office initiated a case under article "theft by abuse of authority" against the chairman of one of the farms. He is suspected of stealing meat for the approximate amount of 7 million rubles.

Minsk district prosecutor's office opened a case under the article "negligence" and "violation of veterinary rules" concerning the chief veterinarian and agricultural enterprises Kolos of Nerudprom. As a result of the improper performance of duties and violation of veterinary rules, the economy was deprived of more than 520 million rubles.

Prosecutor's Office of the Kastrychnitski district of Minsk opened a criminal case under article "abuse of power" against the former director of one of the housing services of the Zavadzki district of the capital. He is suspected of making it possible to use electricity for three legal entities to use electricity paid for by the housing department in the period from January 2012 to August 2014. Losses amounted to more than 71 million rubles.
