Nazarbayev wins Kazakhstani presidential election

The early presidential election poll is over in Kazakhstan. According to the CEC, Nursultan Nazarbayev has got 97.7% of the vote. The turnout was more than 95%, RBK reports.

Kazakhstani CEC chairperson Kuandyk Turgankulov has announced Nazarbayev’s victory. His closest rival, communist Turgun Syzdykov got 1.6% of the vote. Head of Kazakhstani trade unions Abelgazi Kusainov got 0.7%.

Nazarbayev has been the President of Kazakhstan since 1989. He was awarded the title of the leader of the nation in 2010.
