Murderer of athlete Balykina is imprisoned for 23 years

The murderer of well-known Belarusian athlete Yuliya Balykina has been sentenced to 23 years of imprisonment. The decision was pronounced by Minsk City Court on June 23. Dzmitry Vishtalyuk, 29, was returned guilty of brutal murder (unit 6, part 2 of article 139 of the Criminal Code) and theft ( part 1 of article 205 of the Criminal Code). He will serve the sentence in a top security prison, BELTA reports. Balykina’s mother asked for a death sentence.

Balykina went missing on November 8, 2015, Euroradio reported. Her body was found in a Smalyavichy District Forest eight days later. It was wrapped in cellophane and covered with moss. Her close acquaintance was arrested on suspicion of murder. Vishtalyuk quarreled with her during the repairs of sportswoman’ s flat and killed her. He stabbed Yuliya Balykina with a hammer 12 times (11 hits on the head .

 

Dzmitry Vishtalyuk pled guilty. The man was intoxicated at the moment of the murder.
