Lukashenka notes EU’s part in settling Ukrainian conflict

The conversation was initiated by Serbia, BELTA reports. Nikolić congratulated the Belarusian President on the high level and successful organization of the meeting between the leaders of the Customs Union, Ukraine and the EU in Minsk on August 26. The success of the meeting was in the fact that the sides simply started talking and discussing actual problems, Lukashenka said.

Lukashenka noted the EU’s part in preventing the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine. Another round of Ukraine-Russia-OSCE negotiations will be held in Minsk today, the Belarusian leaders told the Serbian President.

The state leaders also discussed bilateral relations. The cooperation between Belarus and Serbia is important in connection with the fact that Serbia will be presiding in the EU in 2015, Nikolić stressed. He invited Lukashenka to visit Serbia next year.
