Iosub: Dollars to appear, banks to lose source of income
But they will not go bankrupt. The National Bank has ordered the banks to sell the foreign currency bought at the stock exchange in exchange offices.
Analyst of the official partner of Alpari in Minsk Vadzim Iosub has commented on the situation for Euroradio.
Vadzim Iosub: “The banks will lose one of their sources of income. They used to be able to buy foreign currency in case the dollar exchange rate increased. It will reduce their income now. However, they will not go bankrupt. The decision is positive as it will increase the offer of foreign currency in currency exchange offices.”
The National Bank ordered the banks to sell their foreign currency in exchange offices. Dollars started appearing in Minsk exchange offices on the evening of January 28. People started queuing for them.
