IMF mission in Minsk

Head of the IMF mission in Belarus David Hoffman and vice PM Pyotr Prakapovich discussed the issue on October 22. The two sides discussed prospects of further cooperation and economic issues, BelaPAN reports.

"An agreement has been reached in New York and Washington. If the government and the fund agree on the key issues and the future programme, the mission that will discuss the programme will arrive soon after this mission leaves. It is very important to check our view of the programme of structural reforms and our approach as well as the recommendations prepared by the International Monetary Fund,” head of the Belarusian PM’s secretariat Alyaksandr Zabarouski told journalists.

Belarus received five tranches of the stand-by credit of $3.46 billion in 2009-2010. Most of the funds need to be disbursed in 2013-2014. Belarus paid over $1.6 billion to the IMF last year.
