Poland's MoD officer accused of spying for Russia

The Polish special services have detained a high-ranking officer suspected of espionage, the Polish Ministry of Defence reports. He is suspected of spying for Russia, Polish mass media report.

"The Polish Ministry of Defence has detained a Polish officer suspected of spying for another state on the basis of the evidence collected by the counter-intelligence,” the Ministry of Defence announced.

The suspect was detained by the Polish Internal Security Agency, mass media report. The military man was detained in the Ministry of Defence on Wednesday, TVN reports.

Two people were arrested – an officer and a lawyer with dual Polish-Russian citizenship, Polish radio station Zet reports. The Polish authorities have not commented on the suspect’s connection with Russia and have promised to report the details later.
