External public debt of Belarus decreased by 256 million dollars

On February 1 this year, the external public debt of Belarus was at 12 billion 300 million dollars. In January 2015, it decreased by 2% or 25.68 million dollars. It is reported by BELTA with reference to the Ministry of Finance.

This year, our country has borrowed abroad 49.4 million dollars. Of these, more than 26 million dollars were borrowed via the loan of the Russian government, more than $ 23 million - through bank loans in China. Since the beginning of 2015, the repayment of external debt amounted to more than $73 million. Almost 61 millions of them were repaid on bank loans in China, Interfax-Zapad reports.

This year, Belarus will have peak payments on foreign loans. Our state is to pay to creditors about $4 billion. $1 billion of that amount is a service of the principal debt.

At a press conference in late January, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that Moscow promised to give loans to Minsk if necessary, as it is interested in a stable financial situation in Belarus. However, Lukashenka said that Belarus has no plans to take large loans. By the way, on March 3 in Moscow, at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, the issue of loan to Belarus will be discussed.
