Blogger Stogava fined 3.6 millions for insulting a policeman

On Monday, January 19, Kastrychnitski District Court of Minsk fined a popular blogger and PR expert Alena Stogava (Melnikava) 3.6 million rubles. She was found guilty of insulting a police officer - he sued for her post in Livejournal, which mentions the word "cops" and "cop country", "I hate you with all my the soul". The main complaint of the policeman was that there was a photo of him, so he thought that it was all about him. The blogger admitted that it was her post, but did not admit the guilt. According to her, she expressed her attitude to the situation and not to a specific police officer.

he law enforcer said that after Stogava's post was published, his mother was very offended, in addition, he was subjected to a special check at work. As it turned out, he had no penalties for 20 years.

The trial lasted for half an hour.

The scandal broke out in early December last year, when metro employees did not let  Alena Stogava on the platform of Park Chalyuskintsau station. According to them, the blogger and PR expert was drunk and could get hurt. The girl strongly protested against being left out of public transport services and wrote a controversial post about this, where she used the phrase mentioned earlier.
