Belarusian weightlifters may not be allowed to participate in Rio Olympics

Беларускіх штангістаў могуць не пусціць на Алімпіяду ў Рыа

Belarus Weightlifting Federation may be debarred from international competitions for a year. The decision will be made after all the tests taken at the Olympics in Beijing (2008) and London (2012) are checked, Pressball quotes the announcement made by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

If three or more positive dope results are found in the tests taken in 2008 and 2012, the sports federations of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan will be affect by the ban.

The International Weightlifting Federation has already removed one Belarus’ Olympic quota at the Olympics-2016. It happened because of a few positive dope tests revealed during the Olympic qualification, Pressball reports.

Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, North Korea, Moldova and Russia have already lost two quotas and Romania and Uzbekistan have lost one quota each.
