Belarus hopes to sign trade agreement with EU

Беларусь спадзяецца на заключэнне гандлёвага пагаднення з ЕС

Belarus is hoping to sign a trade agreement with the European Union, deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Andrei Yeudachenka said.

The first round of trade negotiations between the Belarusian MFA and the European Commission was held in Minsk on October 13. The negotiations will continue on Friday. Belarus and the EU may agree on the cancellation of quotas for the export of our textiles to Europe next year, Yeudachenka said.

A bilateral agreement with the European Union was in force until 2010, Belarus 1 reports.  Minsk refused from the agreement after joining the Customs Union. The agreement violated ‘integration obligations’. Then the EU introduced autonomous quotas. The situation may change spoon, EU representative in Belarus Andrea Wiktorin stressed.
