Agreement on visa abolition between Belarus and Israel to enter into force

On August 27, Foreign Minister of Belarus Uladzimir Makey held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Belarus Iosif Shagal. The meeting was held in connection with the end of the diplomatic mission of the Israeli diplomat.

According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues of Belarusian-Israeli cooperation.

Among other things, they discussed mutual abolition of visas between Belarus and Israel. The agreement was signed in Minsk on September 19, 2014. Shagal handed his counterpart a note that Israel complied with internal procedures necessary for this agreement to enter into force. The official Minsk informed the Israeli side of the implementation of internal procedures in January 2015.

In accordance with the documents signed, the agreement on abolishing visas for holders of national passports shall enter into force 90 days after the last written notification that the necessary procedures are complete is received through diplomatic channels. Thus, the agreement will enter into force on 26 November 2015.
