Belarus, Ukraine leaders to meet this year: Ukraine ambassador

The meeting between Alexander Lukashenka and Victor Yuschenko will take place before the end of 2008, Ukraine's Ambassador in Minsk Igor Likhavy said in a statement.

"The diplomatic missions are doing everything possible to make this meet happen", he said. Likhavy stresses there is a necessity and all the preconditions for that", Interfax news agency reports.

Numerous unofficial reports about a possible meeting between Lukashenka and Yuschenko broke out this year, but they would never be confirmed.
